The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has dismissed reports alleging that Governor Umo Eno secretly smuggled members of a screening panel into the Government House in Uyo, describing the claim as false, mischievous and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Patrick Edeke, ANIPR, the APC said the report was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension within the party.
The statement, titled “Re: A’Ibom APC Screening Drama: How Umo Eno Secretly Smuggled Screening Panel to Government House — Lies from the Pit of Hell,” insisted that the governor was not in Uyo at the time of the alleged incident.

According to the party, Governor Eno was in Abuja attending his governorship screening exercise alongside the APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, and other party leaders.
“It therefore defeats logic and common sense for anyone to fabricate stories about the Governor secretly ferrying screening officials into Government House in Uyo while he was physically in Abuja attending an official party exercise,” the statement read.
The party further stated that APC screening exercises are conducted openly in accordance with established procedures and are never carried out secretly.
It noted that venues, schedules and guidelines for screenings are usually communicated officially to aspirants and stakeholders.
The APC also argued that there would be nothing unusual if members of a party committee paid a courtesy visit to the governor as the leader of the party in the state.
“Courtesy visits are normal political and administrative traditions across party lines and democratic institutions,” the statement added.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to conducting all processes leading to the emergence of candidates in line with the Electoral Act 2026, the APC Constitution and approved party guidelines.

It urged party faithful, aspirants and supporters to remain calm and continue to follow established procedures, assuring them of fairness, transparency and internal democracy.
The APC maintained that no amount of fake news or political blackmail would distract the party from consolidating on its achievements and strengthening democratic processes in the state.
