A delegation from Sierra Leone is expected to attend and observe the upcoming policy meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Nigeria, where key decisions on admission cut-off marks for tertiary institutions will be reviewed.

The visit forms part of regional educational cooperation aimed at strengthening transparency and improving admission standards across West African countries.

The delegation will witness deliberations at the annual JAMB policy meeting, where stakeholders in Nigeria’s education sector determine minimum admission benchmarks for universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions.

According to reports, the engagement will also allow Sierra Leonean education officials to study Nigeria’s centralised admission system, including the use of the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), which coordinates entry into higher institutions nationwide.

The JAMB policy meeting traditionally brings together vice chancellors, rectors, provosts, and government education officials to agree on admission guidelines ahead of each academic cycle.

Officials say the participation of Sierra Leone delegates reflects growing regional interest in Nigeria’s education management model, particularly its standardised approach to admissions and examination oversight.

The meeting is expected to feature discussions on maintaining academic standards while balancing access to higher education in a competitive admission environment.
