The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has advised corps members across the country to embrace modest living, avoid flamboyant lifestyles, and cultivate a strong savings culture as they begin their national service year.
He gave the charge on Tuesday while addressing corps members at the NYSC Kaduna State Temporary Orientation Camp, Kurmi-Mashi, Kaduna.
Nafiu urged the participants to make productive use of their service year by acquiring practical skills through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme. According to him, the initiative is designed to promote self-reliance among young graduates while enabling them to create employment opportunities for others.

He noted that the scheme has established partnerships with several stakeholders willing to support corps members with low-interest loans, business grants, and start-up opportunities.
“Don’t waste your time because time is precious. Do something with your time. Be diligent during your post-camp SAED training,” he said, encouraging corps members to start small and grow their enterprises steadily over time.
Meanwhile, the NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator, Efeke Murna Dadaza, in her camp situation report, disclosed that a total of 2,896 corps members were registered. This figure includes 2,198 deployed to Kaduna State and 698 dislodged from the Federal Capital Territory.
She added that the corps members have adapted to the regimented camp environment and have been actively participating in all scheduled camp activities.
