The National Youth Service Corps has postponed the commencement of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger States due to ongoing renovation work at the two orientation camps.
The NYSC announced the adjustment in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, through the scheme’s official X handle.
According to the management, the postponement became necessary because rehabilitation work being carried out at the camps by the respective state governments is yet to be completed.
Under the revised timetable, the orientation course will now begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, while the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, August 14. The programme is expected to end with a closing ceremony on Tuesday, September 1.

The NYSC urged all prospective corps members deployed to Sokoto and Niger to take note of the new dates and make appropriate travel arrangements.
The scheme also advised prospective corps members to prioritise their safety by avoiding night journeys to their respective orientation camps.
The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wished all prospective corps members safe journeys as they prepare to report for the orientation exercise.
