At least six people, including four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a soldier, were killed on Wednesday in a fatal road crash along the Yola–Song Highway in Adamawa State.
The accident occurred near Barikin-Sajo when a military gun-truck reportedly collided head-on with a commercial Hummer bus travelling from Kano to Mubi.

Eyewitnesses said the crash happened at a bend along the highway after the military vehicle allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed, veering into the path of the oncoming bus.
The impact sparked a fire that engulfed the bus within minutes, trapping occupants inside and leaving several victims burnt beyond recognition.
While some eyewitness accounts put the death toll as high as 10, authorities confirmed six fatalities.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abdulrahman Tukur, said emergency responders and security operatives were deployed to the scene to evacuate victims and clear the wreckage.
The Adamawa State Police Command also confirmed the incident, stating that four NYSC members, one soldier, and one other passenger died in the crash.
Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said preliminary findings indicated that all five passengers in the Hummer bus were burnt after the collision triggered a fire outbreak, while the soldier attached to the military vehicle also died as a result of the crash.

Authorities said investigations had commenced to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
The tragedy has once again raised concerns over road safety, speeding, and the movement of military and commercial vehicles along high-risk highways in the North-East region.
