PLATEAU ATTACK: IGP ORDERS MASSIVE DEPLOYMENT, VOWS ARREST OF PERPETRATORS

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has condemned the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, which led to the loss of lives, and has ordered a massive deployment of security personnel to restore peace.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the IGP expressed condolences to the Plateau State Government and the affected families, describing the incident as unfortunate.

As part of immediate measures, the police chief had earlier deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, to the state to assess the situation, coordinate security efforts.

The IGP has also reinforced ongoing operations with the deployment of additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives, working alongside other security agencies to curb the violence and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

He assured that security operations would be sustained until normalcy is fully restored across the state.

The police boss further directed all operational commanders to ensure visible policing and increased engagement with vulnerable communities.

He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while calling on the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely, credible information.

The IGP also warned against taking the law into one’s hands, stressing that efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
