Russia has renewed its warning to foreign diplomats and other foreign nationals to leave Kyiv, saying its forces will continue carrying out what Moscow described as “massive retaliatory strikes” against Ukraine.

The warning was issued on Saturday by Russia’s Foreign Ministry as Moscow intensified attacks on key infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital.

The ministry said it had previously advised foreign nationals, including diplomatic personnel, to leave Kyiv and avoid travelling to Ukraine because of the security situation.

Moscow said those remaining in the capital despite the warnings were exposing themselves to danger as Russian military operations continued.

The latest warning comes as Kyiv faces intensified Russian drone and missile attacks, including strikes affecting bridges, transport links and energy infrastructure.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Friday that the capital was facing a serious situation and needed to operate on a war footing as repeated attacks disrupted infrastructure and movement across the city.

Russian strikes have particularly affected bridges across the Dnipro River, causing closures and major traffic disruption between the eastern and western parts of Kyiv.

On Saturday, the Northern Bridge was damaged during a Russian air attack, forcing authorities to suspend traffic from the eastern to western bank while emergency teams assessed damage to the roadway and trolleybus infrastructure. No casualties were reported from that strike.

The attack followed repeated strikes on the Southern Bridge during the preceding days, which also disrupted traffic across other major crossings in the capital.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Moscow of increasingly targeting civilian areas and critical infrastructure as Russia expands its aerial campaign.

Russia has rejected accusations that its forces deliberately target civilians and maintains that its operations are directed at military and military-linked infrastructure.

The renewed warning to diplomats comes amid heightened concern in Kyiv over the possibility of a broader Russian campaign against Ukraine’s infrastructure as the country approaches another winter under wartime conditions.
