Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule have joined other political stakeholders in launching a grassroots mobilisation drive for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027.
The initiative, organised under the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network, was discussed at a strategic meeting held at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja on Friday, October 2.
The meeting brought together political leaders and stakeholders from across the North-Central, including APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris and National Coordinator of the mobilisation network, Sonny Echono.

Akume, who serves as Grand Patron of the network, said its objective was to expand political mobilisation beyond Abuja and strengthen grassroots support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket across the region.
He said the network would focus on engaging communities directly as preparations for the 2027 presidential election intensify.
Sule described the initiative as timely and said the region was politically better positioned than it was ahead of the 2023 election.
He pointed to the presence of the SGF, the APC national chairman and other political appointees from the region as factors he believed had strengthened the North-Central’s position within the ruling party.
The governor expressed confidence that the mobilisation effort would increase support for Tinubu and other APC candidates. His comments reflected the party’s electoral expectations rather than an established indication of how voters will cast their ballots in 2027.
Echono said the network would bring together political leaders, grassroots actors and other stakeholders across the region to coordinate campaign activities.
The stakeholders also adopted a series of programmes, including a grand rally scheduled for October 10 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, grassroots advocacy tours and town hall meetings covering the North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.
They also agreed to establish a reconciliation committee aimed at addressing internal grievances within the APC and improving coordination among party stakeholders ahead of the election.

A medical outreach programme is also planned as part of the network’s activities.
Idris said communication structures would be coordinated to increase awareness of the mobilisation initiative across the region.
The North-Central comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, alongside the Federal Capital Territory.
The mobilisation represents an organised campaign effort by APC stakeholders in the region ahead of the 2027 elections; its stated vote targets remain political objectives rather than confirmed electoral outcomes.
