British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer has urged the government to accelerate its defence spending plans, emphasizing that commitments must go beyond just the amount allocated.
Speaking on Monday, Starmer referenced media reports suggesting the UK might bring forward the date by which it aims to spend 3% of economic output on defence. He stated: “We need to step up, we need to go faster (on defence spending). We’ve obviously made commitments already, however, it goes beyond just how much you spend.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid broader discussions on strengthening the UK’s military capabilities in response to evolving global security challenges.
