A former Senator and political leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Effiong Bob, has cautioned politicians against what he described as unwarranted attacks on Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking with journalists amid increasing political activities in the state, Bob urged political actors to focus on issue-based campaigns and constructive criticism rather than personal attacks on the governor.
He warned that the people of Uyo Senatorial District would resist any attempt to undermine Governor Eno’s administration, arguing that persistent attacks on the governor could be viewed as an attack on the district he represents.
“If you want to play politics, play politics without bitterness. Focus on issues and not personal attacks,” Bob said.

The former lawmaker maintained that Governor Eno, who has completed three years of his first term, should be allowed to complete what he described as the conventional eight-year tenure enjoyed by previous governors in the state.
According to him, aspirants seeking elective office should present alternative policies and programmes to the electorate rather than engaging in campaigns aimed at discrediting the governor.
“Anybody who wants to contest should articulate what they intend to do differently and better. Uyo Senatorial District people will resist every attempt to bring down the governance structure of Umo Eno at this time,” he said.
Bob also defended the governor’s performance, stating that the administration has remained committed to implementing its ARISE Agenda. He cited ongoing projects, including the International Conference Centre and Hilton Hotel development, as well as the payment of pensions and gratuities to retirees, as evidence of the government’s achievements.

He expressed confidence that Governor Eno would continue to enjoy the support of the people of Uyo Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 election.
“Uyo Senatorial District will not stand by and watch our governor, who is expected to complete eight years in office, being rubbished. Those who want to contest elections should do so and allow the people to decide,” Bob added.
