The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has uploaded the approved logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, following a Federal High Court judgment directing the electoral body to recognise the party’s modified identity.

NDC National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, welcomed the development, saying it had removed uncertainty surrounding the campaign activities of the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had on September 8 ordered INEC to recognise and upload the modified logo adopted by the NDC at its National Executive Committee meeting on March 25, 2026.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik held that the modified design should be recognised as the party’s official logo for electoral purposes.

Reacting to INEC’s compliance, Dickson thanked the judiciary, INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan and officials of the commission.

He also commended NDC National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas, members of the National Executive Committee, candidates and party members for their roles during the dispute.

According to Dickson, the development means NDC candidates can proceed with printing campaign materials and intensify consultations and campaigns across the country using the recognised party identity.

Dickson urged candidates to coordinate their campaign structures with the party at national, state and other levels, stressing that they were contesting on the NDC platform rather than as independent candidates.

He also cautioned party members against internal divisions and what he described as propaganda and misinformation capable of undermining the party’s preparations for the elections.

Dickson maintained that the NDC would continue pursuing its political objectives through democratic and legal processes while encouraging its candidates to take their campaign messages to voters across the country.

INEC’s official political parties portal currently identifies the NDC as a recognised political party and lists Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe as its National Chairman.
