The All Progressives Congress (APC) has pledged to conduct an issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with its Director of Women Mobilisation in the Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, outlining plans to promote President Bola Tinubu’s policies and achievements.

Speaking in Abuja, Edu said the party’s women mobilisation structures were intensifying grassroots engagement across communities and political constituencies to build support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

She said the APC intended to focus its campaign on the administration’s record in infrastructure development, economic reforms, education and social intervention programmes.

According to her, the party would present its policies and achievements to Nigerians, allowing voters to assess the government’s performance ahead of the election.

Edu expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and praised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her involvement in programmes supporting women, families and vulnerable groups.

She also acknowledged Vice-President Kashim Shettima, his wife Nana Shettima, National Assembly leaders, APC governors and other party officials for their contributions to the administration and party activities.

The former minister described women as an important part of Nigeria’s political system, noting their influence in households, markets, professional organisations, community associations and grassroots political structures.

She explained that the Women Mobilisation Directorate would work with the party’s national leadership, state chapters, women’s groups and affiliated organisations to strengthen coordination and expand voter engagement.

Edu said the mobilisation strategy would involve political education, community outreach and communication about government programmes rather than relying solely on rallies and public gatherings.

She identified the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of the initiatives the APC planned to highlight during the campaign.

According to her, the student loan scheme is intended to improve access to tertiary education by providing financial assistance to eligible students who might otherwise face difficulties funding their studies.

Edu said the party would also discuss ongoing infrastructure projects, economic policies and other government interventions, explaining their objectives and reported outcomes to voters.

She maintained that the administration’s reforms were intended to address economic challenges and create opportunities for Nigerians, while acknowledging that some measures had presented difficulties.

The APC official further said the directorate would prioritise strengthening existing mobilisation structures, improving communication among women leaders and expanding its activities across rural and urban communities.

She commended the First Lady’s advocacy for women’s participation and welfare, stressing the importance of linking political inclusion with improvements in economic opportunities and living conditions.

Edu urged party members to maintain unity and conduct their political activities peacefully, saying the APC would seek to persuade voters through policies, programmes and its account of the administration’s performance.

Her remarks reflect the ruling party’s stated campaign approach ahead of the 2027 election. The administration’s achievements and the effects of its policies remain matters for public scrutiny and electoral debate.
