One person has died, and several others sustained injuries following a reported roller coaster incident at Six Flags Over Georgia, prompting an investigation by local authorities and precautionary safety measures across several amusement parks.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, although authorities have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the death or confirmed what caused the injuries.
Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid confirmed that a fatality and injuries had been reported, adding that detectives from the county’s major crimes unit had commenced an investigation.

Cupid expressed condolences to the affected families and confirmed that the deceased person’s next of kin had been notified.
Management of Six Flags said park personnel and local emergency responders attended to the incident promptly and were cooperating with investigators to establish what happened.
The company also expressed sadness over the tragedy but did not provide details about the circumstances leading to the incident.
Following the incident, Six Flags reportedly suspended operations on nine similar roller coasters across six parks as a precautionary measure pending further safety assessments.
Although authorities have not officially identified the attraction involved, local reports suggested that the incident occurred on the Goliath roller coaster.
According to information published by the theme park, Goliath reaches speeds of approximately 70 miles per hour and rises to a height of about 200 feet.

The incident follows earlier safety concerns involving another Six Flags attraction in California, where several riders reportedly alleged that they sustained injuries after using a roller coaster.
Authorities have not established whether any mechanical failure, operational issue or other factor contributed to the Georgia incident.
Investigations are continuing, with further information expected from local authorities and the theme park operator.
