Liverpool were forced to settle for a point after a dramatic 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday.
New signing Victor Munoz was the hero for the home side, scoring a late equaliser to rescue a point for Liverpool after Forest had taken the lead twice during the encounter.
Nottingham Forest started strongly and opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Dan Ndoye, who finished from Morgan Gibbs-White’s pass after a long ball exposed Liverpool’s defence.
Liverpool responded after the break, with Alexander Isak drawing the hosts level in the 60th minute after tapping in Cody Gakpo’s low cross.
However, Forest regained the advantage in the 70th minute when Gibbs-White converted a penalty after Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was judged to have fouled Neco Williams inside the box.
Liverpool protested the decision, but the penalty stood, and Gibbs-White calmly sent Alisson the wrong way from the spot.
With eight minutes remaining, Munoz produced a moment of brilliance to earn Liverpool a share of the points, smashing the ball into the net off the crossbar after receiving a pass from Florian Wirtz.
The goal marked Munoz’s first strike for Liverpool and capped an impressive full debut for the Spain winger.
Despite late efforts from both teams, neither side could find a winning goal as the match ended 2-2.
The result leaves both Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola and Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner still searching for their first victories since taking charge of their respective teams during the summer.
