United States Congressman Riley Moore has said the US will closely monitor Nigeria’s 2027 general election, including how the polls are conducted and the overall integrity of the electoral process.
Moore made the remarks during an interview on Noire TV on Saturday when he was asked whether he was aware of Nigeria’s forthcoming general election and if the United States could provide political support.
In response, the US lawmaker said Washington would be paying close attention to the election and its outcome, stressing that the conduct of the electoral process would also be under scrutiny.
“We will be paying close attention to Nigeria’s 2027 election,” Moore said.

He added that the United States would monitor not only the final results but also how the elections are organised and executed.
“We are certainly going to be watching these results and how these elections will unfold and how they are executed, and that is something that myself and my administration will pay very close attention to,” he stated.
Moore did not elaborate on the nature of any possible US involvement beyond election monitoring but indicated that the conduct and credibility of Nigeria’s 2027 polls would remain an area of interest for the United States.
