Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims during a coordinated operation in Kyado, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The rescue, which took place in the early hours of April 15, 2026, at about 3:50 a.m., led to the safe recovery of Mr. Sylvester Micheal Ebuka and Mrs. Chidinma Chikwentu. The victims were earlier abducted in separate incidents—Mr. Ebuka on April 2, while Mrs. Chikwentu was taken on April 6.
According to military sources, the operation followed sustained intelligence-driven efforts and increased pressure on criminal hideouts within the area. Troops carried out aggressive patrols aimed at dislodging suspected bandits and disrupting their activities, forcing the abductors to flee and abandon the victims.
Both victims were rescued without any physical injuries.

The Force Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism, resilience, and commitment to duty. He described the successful rescue as a reflection of the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations.
He reassured residents of the military’s determination to sustain the ongoing offensive against criminal elements, emphasizing that efforts will continue until lasting peace and security are restored in the region.
Major General Gara also called on the public to support security agencies with timely and credible information, noting that community cooperation remains critical in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities.
