Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded fresh successes against terrorist and bandit networks across Zamfara State, neutralising a terrorist, arresting suspected criminals, and recovering operational items during a series of coordinated operations.

According to a statement by the task force, troops on June 5 engaged terrorists during a fighting patrol to Birnin Tsaba and Tsanu villages in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area.

Following a firefight at Birnin Tsaba, one terrorist was neutralised, while seven motorcycles were recovered.

On June 6, troops responded to a terrorist attack in Anguwar Sarkin Musulmi village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. The assailants fled into the bush after troops engaged them. Preliminary findings indicated that the attackers had stolen personal belongings from residents before security forces arrived.

The same day, troops also responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Kaura Namoda–Zurmi Road. Investigations revealed that terrorists ambushed two civilian vehicles between Jabanda and Dauran villages in Zurmi Local Government Area. Security personnel secured the area, evacuated injured victims for treatment, and launched efforts to track the attackers and rescue any abducted passengers.

In a separate operation in Maru Local Government Area, troops arrested eight suspected bandits during a patrol to Tudun Wada and Dan Gulbi communities. Recovered items included seven motorcycles, communication equipment, mobile phones, power banks, military-style uniforms, and other materials. A structure allegedly used by the suspects was also destroyed.

Additionally, troops arrested a suspect believed to be the recipient of recently intercepted ammunition at Tupa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area following intelligence-led investigations.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the suspect is assisting ongoing investigations and reaffirmed its commitment to sustained offensive operations against terrorist and bandit groups across the North-West.

The task force also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing security efforts.
