The Kwankwasiyya movement has denied reports suggesting that its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is planning to leave the NDC amid alleged disagreements over candidate nominations.
Speaking on the matter, the movement’s spokesperson, Habeeb Saleh Mohammed, described the reports circulating on social media as false and without basis.
According to him, the movement followed all required procedures during its recent primary elections, which were conducted in line with the timetable released by Independent National Electoral Commission.

Mohammed stated that candidates emerged through a consensus process and that no formal complaints were received from party members or aspirants regarding the exercise.
He added that the results of the primaries had already been forwarded to the party leadership for the next stage of the process.
“There was never a time it was discussed that our party leader is leaving the party. That is our position,” he said.
The clarification follows reports alleging tensions between the Kwankwasiyya bloc and the national leadership of the NDC over candidate lists from Kano State. The reports claimed that some names submitted by the Kwankwasiyya camp were replaced as part of an alleged 60–40 power-sharing arrangement.

The rumours further suggested that Kwankwaso, who has been linked with the party’s leadership structure, was considering withdrawing his political base from the NDC in protest.
However, the movement insists there is no crisis over candidate nominations and maintains that Kwankwaso remains committed to the party.
The spokesperson urged supporters and members of the public to disregard the reports, stressing that the movement remains united and focused on its political objectives.
