Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a terrorist attack in Kaduna State and rescued three kidnapped victims in Zamfara State.

The operations were conducted separately on September 10 and 11, according to the JTF Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

Danja said troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call over terrorist activity in Unguwan Gardago, Kaduna North LGA, where the attackers had reportedly robbed residents of motorcycles and phones before abducting a civilian.

The troops ambushed the terrorists along their escape route, forcing them to flee and abandon three motorcycles and other items taken from residents.

Security personnel also recovered components of a PKT machine gun and a pump-action firearm. However, the abducted civilian was reportedly killed by the terrorists, with troops later recovering his body and handing it over to his relatives.

In Zamfara, troops of Sector 2 responded to an attack on a Canter vehicle along the Anka-Gummi Road on September 11.

The soldiers engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon their victims and escape. Three kidnapped persons were subsequently rescued, while terrorist communication equipment was recovered.

The JTF urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
