Suspected terrorists have attacked Tsamiya town in Kebbi State, setting several structures ablaze and abducting a resident during the assault, prompting the deployment of additional security personnel to the area.

The attack, which occurred late Saturday, left residents in panic as the assailants reportedly fired sporadically before targeting public and private property in the community.

Among the structures destroyed were a makeshift checkpoint belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a local brothel, and the residence of a community member identified as Sule Mai Goge.

The attackers also abducted one Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare and fled to an unknown destination.

Confirming the incident, the Kebbi State Police Command said tactical operatives had been deployed to the affected community to restore security and support ongoing efforts to track down the perpetrators.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate reinforcement of security in the area upon receiving reports of the attack.

According to him, security agencies responded swiftly to the incident and have intensified operations aimed at protecting lives and property.

“The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya Town following an attack by suspected terrorists in the late hours of June 20, 2026,” the statement said.

Usman disclosed that a comprehensive investigation had commenced, while security operatives were working to rescue the abducted victim and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.

The police assured residents of Tsamiya and neighbouring communities that sustained security operations would continue until peace and normalcy are fully restored.

The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information that could aid ongoing operations.

Authorities said further details would be released as investigations progress and security efforts yield results.
