The race for the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership title has taken a decisive turn following Matchday 17, with all six teams for the highly anticipated Super Six championship now officially confirmed.
In Group A, dominant and consistent performances saw Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, and Edo Queens secure their qualification. Their early booking of Super Six spots also confirmed relegation outcomes within the group, bringing clarity to both ends of the table.
Group B produced its share of drama, with FC Robo Queens finishing top, ahead of Nasarawa Amazons and Abia Angels, all of whom sealed their places in the title-deciding playoff. However, the relegation battle in the group remains unresolved, with two spots still to be determined on the final matchday.
The standout performance of the round came in Lafia, where Nasarawa Amazons reaffirmed their championship pedigree with a spirited comeback victory over Sunshine Queens. The two-time champions overturned an early deficit to secure a 2–1 win, showcasing resilience and experience.
Forward Bibiana Odoh emerged as the match-winner, scoring a quickfire brace to guarantee her side’s Super Six qualification with a game to spare and reinforce their title ambitions.
Equally significant was the historic achievement of Abia Angels, who reached the Super Six for the first time in their history. After narrowly missing out last season, the team returned with renewed determination, overcoming stiff competition to claim a well-deserved place among the league’s elite.
