The San Antonio Spurs have secured a place in the NBA Western Conference Finals after a dominant 139-109 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, while the Detroit Pistons kept their playoff hopes alive with a crucial win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

San Antonio sealed the semifinal series with an impressive all-round performance, maintaining control throughout the game to book a highly anticipated clash with defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder. The victory marks the Spurs’ first appearance in the Western Conference Finals since 2017.

Stephon Castle led the Spurs with a standout display, contributing 32 points and 11 rebounds, while De’Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama also made significant contributions. Wembanyama, who had faced intense scrutiny following his earlier ejection in the series, said the team remained focused on responding through performance rather than emotions.

Minnesota attempted a comeback after falling behind early, with Anthony Edwards leading the resistance, but the Spurs regained control in the third quarter and extended their advantage to put the game beyond reach.

In the Eastern Conference playoffs, Detroit avoided elimination with a convincing 115-94 victory over Cleveland, levelling the semifinal series at 3-3 and forcing a decisive seventh game.

Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 21 points, including five three-pointers, while Jalen Duren delivered a strong defensive performance with rebounds and blocks. Detroit’s collective effort saw six players finish in double figures as the team ended Cleveland’s unbeaten home record in the postseason.

The result sets up a winner-takes-all encounter in Detroit, with both teams now battling for a place in the next stage of the playoffs.
