The inaugural edition of the Nigeria Super League will reach its climax on Saturday as Southern Sharks and Middle-Belt Tigers battle for the championship title at the TBS Cricket Oval in Lagos.
Southern Sharks booked their place in the final after defeating Middle-Belt Tigers by 17 runs in a rain-affected encounter.

Batting first, the Sharks scored 85 runs for six wickets in 13 overs, with Durotoye Gideon leading the batting effort with 27 runs, while Danladi Isaac contributed 13 runs.
In reply, Middle-Belt Tigers were bowled out for 68 runs in 11.3 overs despite a determined 19-run innings from captain Runsewe Sulaimon. Isaac starred with the ball, claiming three wickets, while Akhigbe Miracle added two wickets to help secure the Sharks’ victory and a direct place in the final.
The Tigers bounced back in the second eliminator to secure the remaining spot in the championship match with a six-wicket win over Central Eagles.
Central Eagles posted 98 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs, thanks largely to Mohammed Moshood’s 32 runs and Chima Akachukwu’s 26.
Middle-Belt Tigers successfully chased down the target in 17.2 overs, with captain Runsewe anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 38 runs, while Ndubudem David contributed an unbeaten 24 to guide his side into the final.
Earlier in the competition, Central Eagles had defeated Northern Lions by seven runs in the elimination round. Akachukwu top-scored with 30 runs, while Peter Aho impressed with the ball, taking three wickets to help defend a total of 83 runs.

Before the title decider, Northern Lions and Central Eagles will meet in the third-place playoff scheduled for 10:00 a.m., while the final between Southern Sharks and Middle-Belt Tigers will commence at 1:30 p.m.
The championship match is expected to provide a fitting conclusion to the maiden edition of the Nigeria Super League, which has showcased some of the country’s emerging cricket talents.
