SHETTIMA ARRIVES IN COTONOU FOR BENIN PRESIDENT’S INAUGURATION

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Cotonou, the capital of the Republic of Benin, ahead of the inauguration of President-elect, Romuald Wadagni.

Shettima is attending the ceremony as a special guest and is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event scheduled to be held at the Presidential Palace in Cotonou on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

On arrival at the Cardinal Bernardin Gantin International Airport, the Vice President was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Benin, Olushegun Adjadi Bakari, alongside Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Benin, Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim, as well as senior officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Cotonou.

He was also briefed on the inauguration programme by the Beninese Foreign Minister and other diplomatic officials.

He noted that bohth countries must continue to strengthen bilateral ties in the interest of regional stability and development.
