The Rivers State University has held a two-day Faculty Away Day aimed at repositioning the institution for academic excellence, innovation and global competitiveness.
The retreat, organised by the University’s 15th Governing Council, brought together over 400 participants, including council members, principal officers, academics and former vice-chancellors.

Speaking at the event, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Okey Wali, SAN, said the University’s Strategic Plan would serve as a roadmap for institutional growth, with emphasis on improved global ranking, quality research and zero tolerance for corruption.
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, called for greater collaboration, innovation and strategic planning to achieve the institution’s goal of becoming one of Nigeria’s leading universities.

The retreat featured presentations on research commercialisation, digital transformation, grantsmanship, university ranking and academic entrepreneurship aimed at strengthening the University’s teaching, research and development objectives.
