The Rivers State Government has extended the deadline for commercial vehicle and tricycle operators to repaint their vehicles in the state’s approved colours.
The Ministry of Transport announced that the deadline, initially scheduled for October, has been extended to December 31, 2026, following appeals from transport operators across the state.
In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Vera Ndidi Sam-Dike, on Wednesday, the government said enforcement of the directive would commence in the first week of January 2027.
The ministry urged affected operators to take advantage of the extension to comply with the directive requiring commercial vehicles and tricycles to be painted in the approved light blue and white colours.
It, however, clarified that commercial vehicles exempted from adopting the state colour scheme are still required to comply with the ministry’s enumeration directive.
According to the ministry, the deadline for the enumeration of such vehicles remains the second week of October 2026, after which enforcement will commence.
The government urged commercial transport operators to comply within the stipulated periods to avoid enforcement measures.
