Sen. Rand Paul ordered Dr Anthony Fauci’s attorney removed from a Senate hearing after the attorney repeatedly interrupted proceedings while attempting to defend Fauci, who was recognised to speak.
Paul warned the attorney several times, stating:
“You will respect these proceedings. You were told not to sit at the table. You insist on sitting at the table. We told you you were recognised. You are not invited here for testimony, sir. You are being disruptive.”
He continued: “Would you behave this way in a courtroom? No, because the judge would put you in jail. I can’t do that today, but I can have you escorted from the premises.”
Paul then issued a final warning: “Sit quietly and don’t say another word. I said sit quietly; another word and you’re gone.”
After the attorney continued speaking despite the warning, Paul directed security to escort him from the hearing room.
