Qatar has rejected Iranian claims that a March 18 attack on the Ras Laffan gas facility did not occur, accusing Tehran of relying on a selectively quoted technical document rather than Doha’s official report submitted to the United Nations.

Qatari officials said the country’s position was based on its official records and assessments following the incident, which they said caused damage to the major energy facility.

The dispute follows Iranian statements challenging Qatar’s account of the strike and questioning reports about the impact on the Ras Laffan Industrial City gas complex.

Qatar said the Iranian position did not reflect the full details contained in technical assessments and official documentation presented by Doha. The government maintained that the attack represented a violation of its sovereignty and affected critical energy infrastructure.

The Ras Laffan facility is one of Qatar’s most important energy hubs and plays a central role in the country’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) production. Reports following the incident said the attack had significant consequences for Qatar’s energy operations.

The disagreement comes amid wider tensions in the Gulf region, where energy facilities have become targets during the escalating conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

Qatar has maintained that attacks on its territory threaten regional stability, while Iranian officials have disputed aspects of Doha’s account of the incident.
