He lauded the union for its commitment to promoting professionalism, responsible journalism, unity among media practitioners and improved welfare for its members.
He also commended the council for organising its maiden Leadership Summit, themed “Journalism and Leadership: Balancing Editorial Independence with Government Policies,” describing the event as timely and relevant to the evolving role of the media in democratic governance.

According to him, the summit demonstrated the council’s resolve to uphold ethical journalism while encouraging constructive engagement between the media and government in the interest of national development.
Prince Ikim reaffirmed the commitment of AKSEPWMA and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to strengthening their partnership with the NUJ, noting that the media remains a critical stakeholder in promoting environmental sustainability, public awareness and responsible waste management across the state.
He said the agency would continue to work closely with journalists and the union to deepen environmental consciousness and support initiatives aimed at sustaining Akwa Ibom’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s cleanest and most environmentally friendly states.

The AKSEPWMA chairman congratulated the leadership and members of the NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council, on the milestone and expressed confidence that the union would continue to make meaningful contributions to the growth of journalism and the socio-economic development of Akwa Ibom State.
