The National Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Barrister Samuel Memeh, has said the party will not field a candidate in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, citing its recent registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking during his first official visit to the party’s Osun State chapter in Osogbo, Memeh explained that the DLA was registered by INEC in February, after the timetable for the governorship election had already been released, making it impossible for the party to participate in the poll.

Despite its absence from the ballot, he said the party would closely monitor the election and may endorse a candidate based on competence, leadership qualities and commitment to good governance.

Memeh stated that the Democratic Leadership Alliance was established to provide Nigerians with a credible political alternative, with a focus on development, quality education, improved healthcare, youth empowerment and inclusive governance.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilisation, integrity, accountability and people-oriented leadership, expressing confidence that the DLA would continue to expand its presence and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic process.
