Akwa Ibom State Police Command has warned against unlawful political gatherings and reiterated its commitment to enforcing law and order across the state.
The warning was issued by the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, during a stakeholders’ town hall meeting held on April 24, 2026, at the Uyo Area Command.
The meeting, which brought together security agencies, community leaders, youth groups, transport unions, traditional rulers, and political actors, was convened to strengthen community policing and improve intelligence sharing.
CP Azare stated that all political rallies, meetings, and public gatherings must be duly communicated to and approved by the Police to ensure proper security coordination, warning that violations would be decisively handled.
He stressed that the Command would not tolerate actions capable of disrupting public peace, including unlawful assemblies and incitement, adding that intelligence-led policing remains central to its operations.
The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s zero tolerance for crime, urging residents to report suspicious movements and cooperate with security agencies to enhance safety across the state.
He further encouraged members of the public to report cases of misconduct by police personnel through the Complaint Response Unit (CRU), assuring that the Command remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights.
CP Azare said the Command is fully prepared and strategically positioned to maintain peace and security in all parts of Akwa Ibom State.
