The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms and ammunition during a security operation along the Oyo/Ogbomoso axis of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, stating that the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen crime prevention and enhance security across the state.
According to the statement, operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol attached to the Oyo/Ogbomoso axis intercepted a gold-coloured Nissan Maxima vehicle with registration number FKJ 666 KA during a routine patrol on June 15, 2026, at about 10:48 a.m.

The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed Dabban and Ndako Sulaimon, both residents of the Sabo area of Sagamu in Ogun State, were immediately taken into custody for further investigation.
The police spokesperson explained that intelligence gathered during preliminary investigations led operatives to extend the operation to Ogun State, where additional recoveries were made.
He said coordinated operations resulted in the recovery of two pump-action rifles, three live cartridges and one expended cartridge from locations linked to the suspects and an alleged arms supplier.

Ayanlade noted that the suspects remain in police custody while investigations continue to uncover other members of the criminal network and determine the extent of their involvement in armed robbery activities.
The Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining proactive policing strategies aimed at combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents across Oyo State.
