The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers in connection with a robbery incident in Uyo and recovered several items allegedly stolen from their victim.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John.

According to the statement, the arrests followed a distress report received on May 25, 2026, from a resident who alleged that three armed men invaded his residence and forcefully dispossessed him of valuables.
Acting on the report, detectives launched an intelligence-led investigation which led to the arrest of one of the suspects, identified as Inyene Aniefiok of Eka Street, Uyo.
The police said Aniefiok confessed to participating in the robbery during interrogation and subsequently led investigators to the arrest of two other suspects, Emmanuel Thomas and Elijah Gideon, both residents of Udi Street, Uyo.
A follow-up operation by the police resulted in the recovery of several items suspected to have been stolen during the robbery. The recovered exhibits include a Sumec generator, an arc saw, electrical wires, hand gloves, wrecking tools, a pinch bar, machetes, and a blood pressure monitoring machine.
The Command said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who are currently at large and to recover the weapons allegedly used during the operation.
Commending the detectives for their swift response and professionalism, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, also praised members of the public whose information contributed to the success of the operation.
He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to combat armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and other violent crimes across Akwa Ibom State, urging residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies.

The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
