Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the immediate disengagement of directors-general of government agencies and technical advisers serving in his administration.
The decision was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode.
According to the statement, the affected officials have been directed to prepare and submit their handover notes to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The disengagement follows the dissolution of the State Executive Council and forms part of changes to the administration ahead of the governor’s second-term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026.

The statement explained that the latest directive completes the disengagement of political appointees, except for a limited number whose appointments have been retained because of the nature of their responsibilities.
Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the affected officials for their service, dedication and contributions to the development of Ekiti State.
He also wished them success in their future endeavours.

The latest development follows an earlier directive issued on September 27, when the governor dissolved the boards of government agencies, commissions and parastatals and terminated the appointments of political aides.
Directors-general and technical advisers were initially exempted from that exercise but have now been included in the disengagement process.
The changes come as preparations continue for the inauguration of a new administration in Ekiti State.
