Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has called on members of the Renewed Hope Projects Media Team to uphold the highest standards of journalism while assessing government projects across the state.
Speaking on Tuesday in Umuahia during a reception for the inspection team, Governor Otti emphasised the need for professionalism, fairness, objectivity, and accuracy in reporting.
The team is currently touring projects executed under the administrations of President Bola Tinubu and the Abia State Government.

Represented by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, Otti described the visit as an important initiative aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and public understanding of government programmes and infrastructure projects.
He noted that journalists play a crucial role in shaping public perception and fostering national development through credible and balanced reporting.
According to the governor, media practitioners must remain committed to ethical standards, particularly at a time when misinformation continues to challenge public discourse.
He stressed that his administration welcomes constructive scrutiny and believes that development efforts should be openly evaluated and reported without bias.

Otti also encouraged members of the media team to engage directly with residents during their tour to gain firsthand insight into the impact of government projects on local communities. He added that many of the projects undertaken by the state government align with the broader objectives of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking on behalf of the inspection team, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to conducting an impartial assessment of both federal and state projects.
Onanuga said the exercise would focus on evaluating key development initiatives while highlighting the importance of cooperation between different levels of government in advancing national growth and development.
