Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has expressed confidence that ongoing construction of the new Government House complex in Umuahia will be completed before the end of 2026, following an on-site inspection of the project on Saturday.

The governor, who toured the facility alongside engineers and project supervisors, said the pace of work on the new Governor’s Office and Official Residence remains satisfactory and aligned with the state’s development timeline.

The project is being handled by Craneburg Construction Company as part of a broader initiative by the Otti administration to modernise the state’s seat of power and improve administrative efficiency.

During the inspection, Otti reviewed key sections of the complex and received technical briefings from site engineers on progress made and compliance with approved design specifications. He commended the contractor for maintaining quality standards and urged continued adherence to delivery timelines.

The new Government House project forms part of a larger infrastructure renewal programme aimed at upgrading public buildings within the Government House complex in Umuahia.

Several components of the administrative hub have already been completed, including the renovated Deputy Governor’s Office, a newly built Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), as well as the upgraded Michael Okpara Auditorium, Protocol Building, and Banquet Hall.

Ongoing construction works within the complex include a modern Government House Clinic, a new entrance gate, and other auxiliary facilities designed to enhance functionality and improve the working environment of the state’s executive arm.

According to the state government, the project represents a key pillar of its infrastructure development agenda, which seeks to provide modern facilities and strengthen governance structures across Abia State.

Governor Otti, who assumed office on May 29, 2023, has continued to highlight infrastructure renewal as a central focus of his administration. He has also indicated interest in seeking a second term in office.
