The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, in Osun State has donated 60 patrol vehicles to security agencies to enhance crime prevention and improve public safety across the state.
The vehicles were presented at the Osun State Police Command Headquarters in Osogbo by the Chairman of Osun ALGON, Samuel Idowu.
Idowu said the donation demonstrates the commitment of local government chairmen to protecting lives and property, noting that security remains the foundation for sustainable development.

He explained that the initiative was made possible through local government financial autonomy, which has enabled councils to respond more effectively to the security needs of their communities.
According to him, the latest donation brings the total number of patrol vehicles provided by the association to 90, following an earlier donation of 30 vehicles.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the benefiting security agencies, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Ibrahim Gotan, commended the local government chairmen for the intervention.
He assured that the patrol vehicles would be deployed effectively to improve mobility, response time, intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
