The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, has commended the Chief Executive Officer of Emma Sol and Publisher of The Guide Newspaper, Comrade Emmanuel Sam, for donating an SLTV dish and decoder to the union.
The donation, which also includes a six-month subscription package, was formally presented during a courtesy visit to the NUJ Secretariat in Uyo.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Sam lauded the leadership of the union led by Comrade Nsibiet John for its ongoing reforms, capacity-building initiatives, and consistent efforts to prioritise the welfare of members through training and professional development programmes.
He also encouraged the union to consider supporting SLTV, describing it as a Nigerian-owned broadcast platform committed to quality service delivery and the promotion of public interest content.
In his response, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John, expressed appreciation for the gesture on behalf of the council, describing it as timely and impactful.
He said the donation would enhance access to information at the secretariat and reflected growing confidence in the leadership direction of the union.
Comrade John reaffirmed the council’s commitment to strengthening members’ welfare, sustaining institutional reforms, and expanding training opportunities for journalists in the state.
He further assured that the executive council would continue to uphold professionalism, transparency, and service excellence in line with the core values of the NUJ.
