The Northern Christian Association (NCA) has urged security agencies and the federal government to intensify efforts to dismantle arms supply networks fueling terrorism and violent crimes across Nigeria, describing the move as critical to reducing attacks on innocent citizens.

The association made the call while commending the Department of State Services (DSS) for the recent arrest of five individuals allegedly connected to the November 2025 abduction of students and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, the group said the arrests underscored the importance of targeting not only those who carry out attacks but also the individuals and networks that provide weapons, funding, and logistical support to criminal groups.

According to the NCA, intelligence-driven operations aimed at identifying and dismantling support structures behind terrorist activities remain essential to weakening the operational capacity of violent groups and improving national security.

Hayab noted that successful security operations should be acknowledged by the public, stressing that citizens have a responsibility to recognise positive outcomes while also holding authorities accountable when expectations are not met.

“The arrest of individuals allegedly involved in supplying arms to criminal elements highlights the significance of intelligence-led investigations and coordinated security efforts in combating terrorism and violent crime,” the statement said.

The association maintained that cutting off access to weapons and logistics would significantly reduce the ability of terrorists and other armed groups to launch attacks against communities across the country.

While praising security personnel for their dedication and sacrifices, the NCA acknowledged the challenges faced by operatives who continue to confront threats from terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements in the line of duty.

However, the group emphasised that the recent arrests should not mark the end of investigations. It called on security agencies to conduct comprehensive inquiries to identify all individuals connected to the alleged crimes and ensure they are prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The association argued that bringing every accomplice to justice would serve as a strong deterrent and send a clear message that those who support terrorism, directly or indirectly, will be held accountable.

The NCA also encouraged security agencies to remain steadfast in their efforts to safeguard lives and property, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration between law enforcement agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders would strengthen the fight against insecurity.

Reaffirming its commitment to national peace and unity, the association urged the federal government to maintain pressure on terrorist groups, bandits, and other violent actors by targeting the networks that provide them with resources and operational support.

According to the group, consistent action against such networks remains crucial to restoring public confidence, enhancing security, and promoting stability across the country.
