The Nigerian Army has commenced the 2026 Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination, with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, charging members of the examination panel to uphold professionalism, integrity and fairness throughout the exercise.
The examination, which began on August 10, is being conducted simultaneously at the Nigerian Defence Academy Postgraduate School and the Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre in Jaji, Kaduna State.
Representing the Chief of Army Staff at the opening ceremony, the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command, Nigerian Army, Major General Peter Malla, described the examination as a critical requirement for the career progression of officers seeking admission into the Senior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, as well as other military institutions worldwide.
Major General Malla stressed that the credibility of the Army’s examination process must remain uncompromised, noting that panel members were selected strictly on merit and competence. He urged them to ensure fairness, objectivity and strict compliance with the rules guiding the conduct of the examination.
He also commended the Chief of Army Staff for providing the necessary support for the exercise and assured that the Training and Doctrine Command would work diligently to achieve its objectives.
Host Commander and Commander of the Infantry Corps Centre, Major General Godwin Mutkut, said adequate administrative, logistical and security arrangements had been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
He described the credibility of the Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination as essential to grooming future military leaders capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
The 2026 Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination is expected to conclude on August 14.
