The Nigerian Air Force has commenced preparations for its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for enlistment as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women.

The recruitment exercise, which is part of the NAF Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026, will open for online applications on September 3 and close on October 14, 2026.

The Air Force announced the exercise in a notice published on its official X handle on Wednesday, urging prospective applicants to carefully study the eligibility criteria and application guidelines before submitting their forms.

The NAF stated that the application process is free of charge, warning prospective applicants to be cautious of individuals demanding payment in connection with the recruitment.

Applicants seeking enlistment as tradesmen/women must be between 18 and 27 years old as of March 1, 2027, while candidates applying under the non-tradesmen/women category must be between 18 and 22 years old by the same date.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and meet the prescribed physical requirements, including a minimum height of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.

They are also expected to be medically, physically and psychologically fit and satisfy the Air Force’s established medical and employment standards.

Candidates applying as tradesmen/women with National Diploma or National Certificate of Education qualifications must obtain their certificates from accredited institutions.

They must also possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings in any of the recognised examinations, including WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS.

Applicants seeking positions in driving and other trades that require a Trade Test must possess the relevant Trade Test certificate and meet the required Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination conditions.

Those applying as drivers are additionally required to have a valid driving licence.

Applicants under the non-tradesmen/women category must have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in the relevant examinations.

They are also required to possess a Primary School Certificate and Secondary School Testimonial.

The NAF said successful applicants would be required to complete an Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form.

The attestation form must be endorsed by an authorised official, including a military officer from the applicant’s state of origin not below the rank of Wing Commander in the Air Force or its equivalent in the Army or Navy.

It may also be signed by a police officer not below the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.

Applicants must attach a passport photograph to the attestation form, along with a photocopy of the signatory’s valid driver’s licence, National Identity Card or international passport.

The Air Force said the zonal general aptitude test for shortlisted candidates would take place on a date to be announced through the recruitment portal.

Only candidates who can complete the required stages will be invited for the subsequent interview.

Prospective applicants are advised to obtain the full eligibility requirements and application guidelines from the official NAF recruitment portal before submitting their applications.
