The Niger State Government has pledged to complete the first phase of a new permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp within 12 months.
Governor Mohammed Umar Bago committed during the groundbreaking ceremony for the ultramodern camp at Paiko, stating that funds had already been appropriated for the project.
He said the new facility, to be built on eight hectares of land provided by the host community, is expected to rank among the best orientation camps in the country.
Speaking at the event, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, commended the state government for its continued support of the scheme and described the project as a major step toward improving the welfare and training environment for corps members.
He noted that the new camp would replace one of the oldest and most challenging orientation facilities in the country.
Nafiu reaffirmed the NYSC’s commitment to national integration and youth development, urging corps members to uphold discipline, patriotism and tolerance while contributing meaningfully to the development of their host communities.
