Newcastle United secured a 2-0 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, with goals from Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa handing the visitors all three points.

The match remained goalless at halftime despite efforts from both sides, but Newcastle broke the deadlock in the second half when Elanga scored in the 62nd minute after an assist from Amar Dedić.

The visitors doubled their advantage 10 minutes later as Yoane Wissa found the back of the net in the 72nd minute, with Nick Woltemade providing the assist.

Tottenham struggled to convert their chances throughout the encounter, with Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Horníček making important saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Rob Green, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, said Tottenham showed effort but lacked the quality needed to break down Newcastle’s defence.

The defeat added pressure on Tottenham, who have continued to search for consistency early in the season, while Newcastle celebrated a strong away performance under manager Matthias Jaissle.

Newcastle’s victory moved them closer to collecting maximum points from their opening fixtures, while Tottenham were left reflecting on another disappointing home result.

The match was played in front of 61,025 spectators at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
