The Deputy Imam of the National Mosque, Sheikh Haroun Muhammad Eze, has offered special prayers in gratitude to Allah for sustaining the National Youth Service Corps for 53 years.

The prayers were held during a special Jumu’at service at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters Mosque in Maitama, Abuja, as part of activities commemorating the 53rd anniversary of the Scheme.

Leading the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, alongside top management officials, staff and corps members in supplication, Sheikh Eze prayed for the continued safety and protection of corps members, staff and the leadership of the Scheme. He also offered prayers for national unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.

Speaking during the event, the NYSC Director General expressed appreciation to the management of the National Mosque for its sustained spiritual support to the Scheme, describing the gesture as vital to its continued success.

General Nafiu also commended the NYSC Muslim community, particularly the leadership of the NYSC Headquarters Mosque, for their consistent prayers and commitment to the progress of the organisation.

He urged Muslim staff members to uphold the values of compassion, unity and mutual support, irrespective of ethnic, religious or regional differences, stressing the need for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

On behalf of the NYSC Muslim community, Chairman of the NYSC NDHQ Mosque Committee and Director of Human Resource Management, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad, praised the Director General for his leadership and commitment to staff welfare and spiritual development within the Scheme.

He also acknowledged the Director General’s support for the renovation of the NYSC Headquarters Mosque, noting that the intervention had improved the facility and created a more conducive atmosphere for worship.

Alhaji Muhammad further prayed for divine guidance and protection for the leadership of the NYSC, its staff and corps members nationwide.

Earlier, Brigadier General Nafiu had attended a thanksgiving service at the NYSC Interdenominational Chapel in Maitama, Abuja, where he joined members of the Scheme’s top management and staff in prayers marking the anniversary celebration.
