The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has seized alcoholic beverages estimated at ₦300 million during enforcement operations across major markets in Lagos State.
The affected products, packaged in sachets and small PET bottles below 200 millilitres, were confiscated from distributors and retailers during operations targeting prohibited alcoholic beverages.
The exercise led to the closure of some outlets and the arrest of some operators at Ile-Epo Market.

NAFDAC officials also carried out enforcement operations at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin and Oke-Arin Market on Lagos Island, where several cartons of the affected products were evacuated.
The agency said preliminary findings indicated that some distributors and retailers were allegedly hoarding the products amid increased demand and rising prices.
NAFDAC reiterated that restrictions on alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and PET bottles below 200ml remain in force.
“The ban remains in force,” the agency said, warning distributors, retailers and other operators against stocking, selling or distributing the affected products.
It said traders found dealing in the prohibited beverages risk enforcement action and other regulatory sanctions.

The agency urged businesses to remove the affected products from their premises and cooperate with enforcement officials, warning that further operations would be carried out across Lagos State.
NAFDAC said the Lagos operation formed part of its continuing nationwide enforcement campaign against the distribution and sale of alcoholic beverages covered by the regulatory restrictions.
