The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its air operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West, while strengthening its air presence in Sokoto State to support ongoing joint security operations.

In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the move reflects the NAF’s determination to sustain pressure on hostile elements, improve aerial surveillance and maintain the capacity to respond rapidly to emerging threats.

He added that the strengthened air presence would provide effective air support to ground forces operating within the Joint Operations Area.

Airpower to support joint operations

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the NAF would continue to optimise the deployment of airpower to achieve decisive effects in support of ongoing joint operations.

According to him, the changing security environment requires a combination of timely intelligence, responsive airpower and seamless coordination with surface forces.

Aneke stressed that the Service remains focused on maintaining operational readiness and ensuring that terrorists and other hostile elements are denied the freedom to threaten communities.

The NAF urged members of the public to continue supporting security operations by providing timely and credible information to the appropriate authorities.
