The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ejeh Alfred, who died in the line of duty earlier this month.
The visit took place at the family’s residence in Abuja, where the police chief met with the widow, Mrs Mercy Ejeh, their children, and other relatives to express his sympathies over the tragic loss.
ASP Ejeh, a driver attached to the Airwing of the Nigeria Police Force, was killed on April 17, 2026, during an operational mission. His death has drawn attention to the risks faced by officers deployed in critical assignments across the country.

Speaking during the visit, IGP Disu described the late officer as a committed and disciplined professional whose sacrifice in service to the nation would not be forgotten. He emphasised that officers who pay the ultimate price in the line of duty leave behind legacies that the Force is duty-bound to honour.
“The welfare of our personnel, and the families they leave behind, remains a top priority,” the IGP said, assuring the bereaved family of institutional support in the aftermath of their loss.
He further reiterated the commitment of the police leadership to strengthening morale within the ranks, noting that the courage and dedication of frontline officers remain central to Nigeria’s internal security architecture.
Prayers were offered for the repose of the late officer’s soul, as the police chief pledged that the Force would continue to stand by the family in the days ahead.
