The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission between 2021 and 2026 to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
The deadline, which was initially set for Monday, August 31, 2026, has now been moved to Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, JAMB, Fabian Benjamin, announced the extension in a statement posted on X on Saturday.
The board described the extension as the “final opportunity” for affected candidates to make a decision on admission offers they have yet to accept or reject.
JAMB urged candidates with pending regular or Centralised University and Institution Admission (CUIIA) offers to complete the process before the new deadline.
“Candidates with pending admission offers who have not yet accepted or rejected such offers are strongly advised to do so before 30 September 2026,” Benjamin said.
The board warned candidates against waiting until the final day, noting that failure to act within the stipulated period could affect their admission status.
According to JAMB, candidates who accept their offers will be able to proceed with printing their admission letters.
Those who reject their offers, however, will have their dashboards changed to “Not Admitted”, allowing the board to update its records accordingly.
JAMB also clarified the situation for candidates who are no longer studying at the institutions where their outstanding admission offers were made.
It said such candidates could accept the previous admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission, where necessary.
The board explained that the process would enable it to properly update the candidates’ admission status and records.
For candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an earlier unaccepted admission offer, JAMB advised them to reject the previous offer and continue with their current programme.
The board also assured candidates who secured admission during the 2026 admission exercise that rejecting an earlier outstanding offer would not negatively affect their new admission.
JAMB said the extension was intended to give affected candidates one final opportunity to clarify their admission decisions while helping the board maintain accurate and up-to-date national admission records.
However, the board warned that there would be no further extension after September 30, 2026.
It said all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2026 that remain neither accepted nor rejected by the deadline would automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status and would remain so in its records.
JAMB therefore urged all affected candidates to take action immediately rather than wait until the deadline.
The board reiterated that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period would render the offer invalid.
