The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday paid a working visit to Zamfara State, where he joined officers, families and residents in observing the Salat al-Janazah for three police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The visit was also aimed at commiserating with personnel of the Zamfara State Police Command and reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to intensify efforts against banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

The IGP was received by senior government officials and security stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Mallam Abubakar M. Nakwada, who represented Governor Dauda Lawal at the funeral prayers and related engagements.

Addressing officers and men of the command, IGP Disu described the deceased officers as gallant personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the nation against criminal elements threatening peace and security in Zamfara State.

He conveyed the condolences of the Force Management Team and the entire Nigeria Police Force to the families of the fallen officers, assuring them that the sacrifices of their loved ones would not be forgotten.

The police chief stated that while the loss was painful, it would further strengthen the Force’s determination to sustain ongoing security operations across the state.

He urged officers to remain focused, resilient, and professional in discharging their duties, stressing that criminal groups would not be allowed to undermine efforts to restore lasting peace and stability in Zamfara.

The IGP also commended the Zamfara State Police Command for a series of recent operational successes, including the arrest of criminal suspects, recovery of explosives and other dangerous items, rescue of kidnapped victims, recovery of stolen motorcycles and ,successful offensives against armed bandits.

According to him, the achievements underscore the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing, operational commitment and collaboration among security agencies in addressing the state’s security challenges.

Disu assured officers of continued support through improved logistics, operational resources, welfare packages and capacity-building initiatives to enhance policing effectiveness.

He further emphasised the need for intelligence-driven operations, stronger community partnerships and sustained cooperation with other security agencies in the fight against banditry and related crimes.

“The greatest tribute to our fallen colleagues is to remain steadfast in our duty and continue the pursuit of peace, security and justice for the people of Zamfara State,” the IGP said.
