The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, has urged civil servants on Grade Levels 8 to 14 to take greater ownership of ongoing reforms and continually develop their professional skills to improve service delivery.
Abel gave the charge as part of his continued engagement with staff of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
He described the officers as important drivers of the Civil Service, noting that their roles are critical to translating government policies and reform initiatives into practical actions and measurable results.
According to him, the effectiveness and sustainability of the Civil Service depend largely on the knowledge, competence and commitment of individual officers.
Abel also stressed the need for continuous learning and self-development, urging the officers to pursue excellence and mastery in their respective areas of responsibility.
He noted that investment in professional capacity would not only support career advancement but also improve officers’ ability to contribute effectively to government business and organisational performance.
The Head of Service further encouraged the officers to develop the habit of asking questions, acquiring new knowledge and remaining open to learning.
He said a knowledgeable and continuously developing workforce would be better positioned to make informed decisions, address challenges and deliver quality services to citizens.
